You can copy a virtual machine to another vApp. When you copy a virtual machine, the original virtual machine remains in the source vApp. When you copy a virtual machine, the snapshots are not included in the copy.
Preparation
Before proceed to using this guide, you must ensure:
- VM you want to copy.
- VM must on power off state.
- Create new vApp to specify the target location for the VM clone.
Guide
1. Login to vCloud Director. Go to Datacenter.
2. In the first step, create a vApp via vCloud Director > vApp > New VAPP.
3. Enter the name and description related to the vApp as needed then click create.
4. After vApp creation is complete, you can add Network to the VM. What can be done via Actions > Add > Add Network.
5. When adding Network, you can select Direct and then select the Network that has been created on the VM.
6. After vApp creation is complete you can select the Virtual Machines. Select Power Off VM you want to copy, Actions > Copy
7. Select Destination vApp. If you copy to new vApp, Select the new vApp that has been created previously and to search for the desired vApps name, you can follow the steps as shown in the capture we have marked below. Then, enter the desired VApps name.
8. After search for the desired VApps name, you can check the capture we have marked, then click next.
9. Choose storage policy according to your needs.
10. Select the network that has been created.
11. Select the IP Mode that has been created.
12. Click next
13. Finally, click done.
